Earthquake in the Indian Ocean

Heavenly Father, the One who made the world and sustains it,

We are so sad to see the tragedies from this earthquake and tsunamis in SE Asia.

So much sadness and loss has come from these great forces of nature.

Our hearts ache and wish to do something to help and we ask for your wisdom in knowing what to do.

There are so many thousands injured, grieving and worrying and we ask you to give guidance and insight to the relief agencies, health care workers and leaders who will be re-building the devastated cities and villages. Give them strength when they are exhausted, wisdom and supernatural courage to do their jobs well.

In a miraculous way protect those who survive from diseases that threaten them in the aftermath. Please show your power and care for them by protecting them from further harm. We believe it is in your power to act. Please pour out your love and provision for the survivors. We have put our trust in you as the all powerful, true God. Please prove to the world your message of eternal salvation through Jesus, your son, by the way you bring about a kind of “resurrection” to the devastated cities in our region.

Being here in Singapore we are thankful for our safety and your protection from the disaster. But we also care about those who live among us here who have relatives and friends in the affected countries. As you help those in Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, The Maldives, etc. pick up the pieces and re-build their lives; and as you help the relief agencies work quickly to offer real assistance; please give comfort and peace to our friends here who are worried, grief-stricken, and homesick for their country.

Thank you that we can pray to you and have confident hope for eternal life because of Jesus’ sacrifice for our sinfulness. Lord God, have mercy on us!
